Nomad Connect exists to help digital nomads, remote workers and people living abroad make real, in-person connections in a place they're new to. These guidelines apply to everyone, everywhere on the app: your profile, the meetups you host or join, and every message you send. By using Nomad Connect you agree to follow them. They work alongside our Terms of Service.
The short version: be the kind of person you'd want to meet in a new city.
1. This is not a dating app
Nomad Connect is for friendship, coworking and community, not romance. Please don't use it to pursue dates or to make anyone feel they're being pursued.
- Don't use the app, meetups, chats or profiles to solicit romantic or sexual interest.
- Don't send unsolicited advances, flirtatious messages, or comments about someone's appearance.
- Join meetups because you're genuinely interested in the activity and the group, not to meet one specific person.
If a connection naturally grows into something more between two people who both want that, that's life. But the app is built for group friendship, and behaviour that treats it as a dating platform isn't welcome.
2. Treat everyone with respect
- Be kind, patient and inclusive. People here are often far from home and new to the city.
- No harassment, bullying, intimidation, or repeated unwanted contact.
- No hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
- No threats, incitement of violence, or encouragement of self-harm.
3. Be real and be honest
- Use your real name and a genuine, recent photo of yourself.
- Don't impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your identity, profession, age or intentions.
- One personal account per person.
- Don't create profiles for anyone under 16. The app is not for minors.
4. Keep meetups safe and genuine
Hosts set the tone for their city. Whether you're hosting or joining:
- Describe your meetup accurately: the activity, place, time and who it's for.
- Meet in public, sensible settings, especially the first time you meet someone.
- Show up when you say you will, and let people know if plans change.
- Respect people's boundaries, comfort and consent at all times.
- Follow local laws, venue rules, and health and safety requirements.
- Don't host meetups whose real purpose is to sell, recruit, or pitch.
A note on your own safety: Nomad Connect does not vet or screen users, and we're not present at meetups. Trust your instincts, tell someone where you're going, and leave any situation that doesn't feel right.
5. No spam, scams or self-promotion
- No spam, chain messages, or repetitive unsolicited content.
- No scams, fraud, phishing, or requests for money or financial information.
- No unsolicited advertising, promotion, or multi-level-marketing recruitment.
- Don't collect or scrape other members' information.
6. Keep content appropriate
- No sexually explicit, graphic, or violent content anywhere on the app.
- No content that exploits, sexualises or endangers minors, ever. We report this to the authorities.
- Don't share other people's private information (doxxing), photos or messages without their consent.
- Don't post anything that infringes someone else's intellectual property or other rights.
7. Protect people's privacy
- What's shared in a meetup or chat stays with the people it was shared with.
- Don't screenshot and republish private conversations to embarrass or harm someone.
- Respect the privacy settings other members choose.
8. Reporting and enforcement
If someone crosses a line, help us keep the community healthy:
- Report or block any member or meetup directly in the app. It only takes a couple of taps.
- We review reports and may remove content, issue warnings, restrict features, or suspend or permanently remove accounts.
- Serious violations, especially anything involving safety or minors, can result in an immediate, permanent ban and, where appropriate, a report to law enforcement.
We apply these guidelines using reasonable judgement and context. Our goal isn't to punish. It's to protect the people who make this community what it is.
9. Emergencies
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Then, when you're safe, report what happened to us so we can take action on the account involved.
10. Questions
Thanks for helping make Nomad Connect a place where people far from home can find each other safely. If you have questions about these guidelines, reach out to us any time.
